Annoying Humans
It’s hard to be human. If you have ears to hear, then you are human, and what else would you be?
Even before the Fall, the cultural mandate required hard work for man. Adam and Eve could fill the earth, but it would take generations and massive coordination. For that matter, if Eve had resisted the serpent’s lie the first time, in what other ways would their enemy have required them to battle while trying to build?
Of course sin makes everything harder. Sin works in our own hearts and flesh against finding joy in the process, whether at work or rest. Sin works from our hearts against joy with others. Sinners make a mess of things, they wear themselves out under the sun and pass their days in malice and envy (Titus 3:3 bibreftitus3 bibreftitus3v3).
It is painful, exhausting, and then you die. These modern days are full of proving to robots that you aren’t a robot, which is annoying, which ironically, your annoyance proves that you aren’t a robot because robots don’t get annoyed at annoying us.
And so what will you do, lie to yourself? But the truth will set you free. What will you do, distract yourself? But that doesn’t change any of the facts, it means you’ll be less prepared for the end. What will you do, look to Jesus Christ? In Him is forgiveness and peace, promise for the present life and also for the future life to come. In Him we are reconciled to God, and then to others who are likewise reconciled to God.
Come to Him, all who labor and are heavy laden, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30 bibrefmatthew11 bibrefmatthew11v30). And as you run your race, lay aside stupidity and sin which make it that much harder (Hebrews 12:1 bibrefhebrews12 bibrefhebrews12v1).
