You are not going to get all the work done that is on your list. You are not even going to have a perfect todo list. You will not see all the results of your work in your lifetime. You will not get to a point in this life where you don’t need to live by faith. You will see sinful men doing sinful things. You will see supposedly godly men fall and you will see obviously ungodly men succeed. You will be tempted to lose heart.
And you will be okay. You will be better than okay. This is because the joy of the LORD is your strength.
His joy never diminishes. His joy never ends.
He has joy in His own fellowship between the three Persons, and that joy overflowed into the creation of beings who could receive that joy with gratitude and return that joy in praise and reflect that joy between each other.
Jesus told His disciples that He purposed for them to know and have His joy, and that their joy would be full (John 15:11). The Father and Son sent the Spirit to dwell in them for joy (Galatians 5:22). Ministers of the Word are sent for progress and joy in faith (Philippians 1:25).
Church, here is a Table given to you by God’s joy for your joy. He has given you everything in His Son, who died for your sins and rose again for your new, eternal life. Here is good news of great joy for all the people (Luke 2:10)!
