Do Nothing Without It

Church, no doubt, you are busy. I am sure there are some bored people among us, but they are the minority. We have many nights out, late nights of work, early mornings beginning again. In addition the bills increase, the headlines don’t help, the daylight won’t even serve us for many months.

So, whatever else you do, open the Scriptures for their light. Long for the pure Word that equips for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17).

The grass fades and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever (1 Peter 1:24). The winds and rains will come, but those who have heard and who do the word of the Lord will be like those who have built on the rock (Matthew 7:24-25). Those who delight in the law of the Lord are like trees planted by streams of water, with green leaves and fruit in season (Psalm 1:3).

This is the Word that causes you to grow with respect to salvation (1 Peter 2:2). This is the word that enables you to taste that the Lord is good (1 Peter 2:3).

What a blessing to have our own copies of God’s Word. What stories we have of those who gave up their lives that we might read it in our own language, men such as William Tyndale. How kind of God to reveal eternal truth and truth that reveals the good on earth in a book.

Flock, the Chief Shepherd has sent us a book. Read it, listen to it, crave it, marinate in it, do nothing without it.
